It’s time to heal this whiplash.
Like everyone else — I’m experiencing the never-ending Ground Hog Day. I can also add the feeling of time slowing down and speeding up simultaneously leaving me with whiplash, time-warp feeling.
I try to cure these new sensations. Last night I Netflixed my feelings away. Nope. It didn’t work.
I still have feelings.
The staying up late part wouldn’t be a problem if I didn’t get up so early. I’m awake at 5:30 am every day. No alarm clock needed.
It’s my thing.
The sleepy, time warp and time whiplash have to go. I know it’s not helping the anxiety.
It may be the cause. I may not be a Doctor skilled at healing whiplash. But I can design my way back to a livable schedule and minimizes this whiplash feeling.
Time to construct a solution. Time to start with a Success.
Anytime I want to add a ritual or system to my life I review an existing successful ritual. My morning routine is constantly successful. My morning ritual is so successful I can’t recall the tasks needed to complete it. I complete this ritual on autopilot.
It’s time to use Design methodology to redesign my nighttime ritual and end the whiplash.
Design methodology works extremely well for real-life challenges because it’s actionable, future, and solution focused. I know the methodology will work. A Human Centered Design mindset is optimistic.
I realize the process seems crazy or a waste of time. The result is the key to success.
I numerically list every task of my morning routine — every task from raising my head from the pillow to leaving for work. I’m amazed at the length of the list. I’m amazed that all of the tasks run smoothly on autopilot. No decisions. No brainpower wasted.
Seeing the success. Seeing the work needed to create that success is the key to my next successful ritual. Success builds success.
It’s always easier to construct from a successful model. The patterns, cause and effect of the success become obvious. Once you see how a successful system works the construction of a new system moves quickly and purposefully.
I started the new night ritual with minimal effort. A few tasks added every few days. It’s been two weeks, the results are obvious. I still wake at 5:30am but now I feel rejuvenated.
The real benefit of my rested state — My coping skills have improved. Rituals conserve brainpower and the new normal takes a lot of new thinking and brainpower.
Designing a successful ritual won’t solve our current events but it can help to manage them.
Let’s Design a better way to live.
